This database contains notable people in the Greater Boston area who have directly worked with the Israeli government or shown support for that government.
Generally, this means a person has appeared at an event where either Israeli flags are present, or where representatives of the Israeli government are present (usually employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who work at the Israeli Consulate in Boston).
We prefer photographic evidence, for example a photo of an elected official posing in front of an Israeli flag or shaking hands with the Israeli Consul General.
We are slowly expanding to include people from outside Greater Boston, starting with New England politicians.
The actions of the State of Israel in Gaza are a genocide. Since the ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948, the Palestinian people have lived in exile, they have lived under an apartheid system, and they have been subject to a slow-motion genocide.
It is our position that support for the State of Israel is, and has always been, an unacceptable and immoral act. That being said, our mission here is not to convince the reader to take that position; there are plenty of other resources on that topic. Our mission is to show who has supported the State of Israel and when.
Our criteria for including an event is the presence of Israeli officials or symbols indicating support for the State of Israel (e.g. Israeli flags). Unfortunately, sometimes the Israeli Consulate will be invited to events like a menorah lighting or a Holocaust commemoration.
Generally, in these cases, we will limit inclusion to people who are seen interacting with Israeli officials or symbols. A person being in the audience of a menorah lighting does not merit that person’s inclusion; shaking the hand of the Israeli Consul General at the lighting does.
